Trump Pauses Strikes on Iran Energy Sites for 10 Days

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a temporary halt to planned military strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, saying the move is intended to give diplomacy a chance as tensions remain high in the Gulf.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he would delay the attacks for 10 days, writing: “I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern time.

The decision marks the latest in a series of postponements by the U.S. administration, following earlier threats to target Iran’s power plants if no agreement is reached. Trump added that negotiations are ongoing and insisted that talks are progressing positively, stating they are “going very well.”

According to Reuters, the pause pushes back a previously signaled escalation in the conflict, which began on February 28 with joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets amid disputes over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The White House has framed the delay as part of broader diplomatic efforts, with U.S. officials reportedly presenting Iran with a multi-point proposal aimed at de-escalating the conflict.

However, there are conflicting accounts about the negotiations, as Iranian officials have publicly pushed back on some U.S. claims and demands.

Despite the pause, Trump has maintained a firm stance, warning that military action could resume if talks fail to produce a deal.
