Meet the New Black Panther Actor David Jonsson

The Black Panther legacy continues, this time, with British actor David Jonsson stepping into the role of T’Challa II in Marvel’s upcoming movie, Black Panther 3. Director Ryan Coogler made the announcement live at the San Diego Comic-Con, confirming the film will be in theaters by December 15, 2028.

Jonsson plays the grown son of the original T’Challa, introduced as a baby at the end of Wakanda Forever. The actor is widely known for his roles in Alien: Romulus, Rye Lane, and the HBO drama Industry, and also recently earned major buzz for his performance in The Long Walk.

Director Coogler revealed the film will be shot entirely on large-format celluloid film, a first for the MCU. Jonsson went on to express gratitude on stage, thanking Coogler and the cast for “the honour and the privilege” of joining the franchise.
