Tinubu Orders Immediate Rescue of Niger Abductees

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered security agencies to launch an urgent, coordinated operation to rescue victims of the latest mass abduction in Niger State.

The directive follows attacks in parts of the state in which several residents were reportedly abducted, with footage circulating online appearing to show a large number of captives. However, the exact number of people taken remains unclear, as authorities have yet to independently confirm the figures being reported. 

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to work together to secure the victims’ release. 

The President also instructed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the rescue efforts until all those abducted are accounted for.

Tinubu condemned the attack, describing those responsible as enemies of peace and humanity, while assuring affected families that the Federal Government would provide the necessary support to bring their loved ones home safely.
