Akpabio Backs Tinubu for 2027, Cites Administration’s Record

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure another term in office in the 2027 presidential election, pointing to what he described as the administration’s achievements since assuming power.

Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during a meeting with members of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TETFund and NELFund, Akpabio said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would have a strong performance record to present to Nigerians when campaigns begin.

According to the Senate President, Tinubu inherited significant economic challenges but has implemented policies that, in his view, improved the financial position of many state governments and eased difficulties surrounding salary and pension payments.

Akpabio maintained that voters would ultimately assess the administration based on its performance and achievements, expressing optimism that the president would earn renewed support at the polls in 2027.

He also argued that opposition figures seeking to challenge the APC have yet to present a more convincing alternative to Nigerians.

The Senate President further defended the performance of the 10th National Assembly, saying lawmakers would continue to work with the executive arm to advance government programmes and policies.
