Army Neutralises Scores of Terrorists, Arrests 24

The Nigerian Army says its troops have recorded fresh successes in counter-terrorism and other security operations across several parts of the country, neutralising scores of terrorists and taking 24 suspects into custody within the latest 24-hour operational period.

The operations were conducted by troops deployed under different formations, including Operation Hadin Kai, Operation Fansan Yamma and Operation Whirl Stroke, as the military continues its campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The latest operations come amid sustained military pressure on terrorist networks. In August, the Defence Headquarters reported that Nigerian troops neutralised 324 terrorists and other criminals, arrested 373 suspects and rescued 610 kidnapped victims across the country.

The Army has also continued to record successes in the first days of September. In recent operations, troops rescued six kidnapped victims in Kebbi State, while separate operations in Benue and Taraba led to the neutralisation of a suspected bandit and the arrest of five others.

In Borno, troops of Operation Hadin Kai also recovered the bodies of five Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters following a failed terrorist attack in Kukawa Local Government Area, bringing the number of additional terrorist bodies recovered during the exploitation operations to nine.

The military says the ongoing offensives are aimed at weakening terrorist and criminal networks, disrupting their logistics and preventing them from regrouping or carrying out further attacks on communities.
