Russian Strike on Ukraine Shopping Centre Kills 5, Injures 67

The Russian Ukraine war has taken a more deadly turn after a Russian drone strike on a shopping centre in Pavlohrad killed 5 people and injured 67 others, according to Ukrainian officials. 8 children were reportedly among those injured in the attack, which hit the city centre of Pavlohrad in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region.

The attack took place during on September 10, with Russian drones hitting shops, retail units and vehicles in the city centre. Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, said part of the street was effectively destroyed and about 90% of the damaged facilities were commercial.

The number of casualties rose as emergency officials assessed the scene, with 5 people confirmed dead and 67 receiving medical treatment. Among the injured children were reportedly boys aged 13, 14, 15 and 17, as well as two four-year-old girls and an 11-year-old girl.

Ukrainian authorities have continued to document damages from Russian attacks, while claims surrounding individual strikes can change as investigations continue. For the Pavlohrad attack, the latest casualty figures were provided by Ukrainian regional authorities.
