Wike Takes Charge of Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign in FCT, Rivers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared himself the field commander for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State.

Wike made the announcement on Monday at a stakeholders’ meeting of the Rainbow Coalition in Abuja, where he outlined a mobilisation strategy involving members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to reports, the minister said the coalition had agreed to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition, alongside APC candidates contesting National Assembly seats in the FCT.

The proposed arrangement brings together political stakeholders from different party backgrounds in support of the president’s re-election bid. The meeting was attended by party officials, serving and former lawmakers, National Assembly candidates and political leaders from the FCT’s six area councils.

Wike’s declaration comes as political parties and their supporters begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His stated intention to coordinate political mobilisation in both the FCT and Rivers State places the minister at the centre of the coalition’s campaign efforts in the two locations.
