UK Allows U.S. to Use Bases Against Iranian Missiles

The United Kingdom has agreed to allow the United States to use British military bases for potential defensive operations targeting Iranian missile infrastructure, according to Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Speaking on Sunday, Starmer confirmed that the decision came after a request from the United States to use UK facilities if necessary to counter missile threats linked to Iran. The proposed operations would focus on missile storage sites and launch systems believed to pose an immediate risk.
“The United States has requested permission to use British bases for that specific and limited defensive purpose. We have taken the decision to accept this request to prevent Iran firing missiles across the region,” he said in a video message on X.
Officials emphasized that the move is intended as a defensive measure designed to prevent attacks rather than escalate tensions.
The arrangement would allow U.S. forces to operate from British bases if intelligence suggests that missiles could be launched against allied targets.
“Our decision that the UK would not be involved with the strikes on Iran was deliberate, not least because we believe that the best way forward for the region and for the world is a negotiated settlement, one in which Iran agrees to give up any aspirations to develop a nuclear weapon,” he said.
The development reflects ongoing military coordination between the United Kingdom and the United States amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where concerns over Iran’s missile capabilities have continued to grow.
