Borno Abduction: One Girl Rescued, Massive Search Underway for Remaining 13 – Police

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of one girl and heightened search efforts for 13 others kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Askira/Uba Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Sunday in Maiduguri, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed that the girls were seized on November 22 around 3:30 p.m. while working on a farm in Mussa District.

According to Daso, the abduction was reported by the District Head of Huyum, prompting immediate action.

A combined team of police officers, troops of the Nigerian military, Civilian JTF, and local vigilantes was deployed to the area to track the attackers and rescue the victims.

The security agencies have vowed to sustain the operation until all missing girls are safely recovered.

“During the operation, one of the abducted girls managed to escape unharmed and was rescued. Search-and-rescue efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining 13 abducted girls,” he said.
