Federal Government Begins Skills Empowerment With Starter Packs for 18,510 Nigerians
The Nigerian Federal Government has commenced the distribution of starter packs to 18,510 Nigerians who completed vocational and entrepreneurial training under the first batch of the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme.
The initiative, implemented through the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), was designed to help beneficiaries move beyond training and use the skills they acquired to establish businesses and generate income.
Beneficiaries were drawn from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory after undergoing practical training in various trades. The programme combines technical skills with entrepreneurship development, with starter packs provided to support participants as they begin working in their chosen fields.
The training covered a range of areas, including automobile technology, agriculture-related skills, baking and confectionery, carpentry, catering, electrical installation, plumbing, welding, fashion design among other trades.
The distribution marks the next stage of the programme, shifting its focus from classroom-based training to helping beneficiaries put their newly acquired skills into practice.
