Famous Rapper, Lil Durk, has been found not guilty of all charges in his federal murder-for-hire trial over an alleged plot targeting Quando Rondo. A Los Angeles federal jury acquitted the Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Durk Banks, after 3 days of deliberations.
Why Was Lil Durk on Trial?
Prosecutors alleged that Lil Durk ordered an attack on Quando Rondo in Los Angeles in August 2022, allegedly as revenge for the 2020 killing of his close friend and rapper King Von. Rondo survived the shooting, but his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, got killed in the attack.
The jury found Durk not guilty of conspiracy, resulting in death and murder-for-hire charges. Prosecutors had argued that he helped arrange the attack, while the defence maintained that Durk had no involvement in the plot.
Is Lil Durk Going to be Free Soon?
Despite the acquittal, Lil Durk will remain in custody because he faces a separate federal trial involving murder-related racketeering and weapons charges. That case is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, meaning the previous verdict does not end his legal troubles.
The acquittal nevertheless represents a major legal victory for the rapper, who has been jailed since his October 2024 arrest. His supporters celebrated outside the Los Angeles federal courthouse following the verdict.
