Messi Scores 100th Inter Miami Goal

Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a brilliant header following a Luis Suárez cross, reaching 100 goals for Inter Miami in just 115 appearances. This milestone was particularly fitting because Messi also scored his first goal for the club against Cruz Azul in his Inter Miami debut in 2023.

The 39 year-old then turned provider as usual in the 81st minute, sending a corner into the box for Casemiro to head home and seal Inter Miami’s 2-0 victory. Messi was named the Campeones Cup MVP after another decisive performance in a final.

The Campeones Cup becomes another major addition to a trophy collection that includes major honours with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Argentina and Inter Miami. Since arriving in Miami in 2023, Messi has helped the club win the Leagues Cup, Supporters’ Shield, MLS Cup and now the Campeones Cup, giving Inter Miami a trophy in every season of the Messi era.

This victory also gives Inter Miami their first Campeones Cup title and their first trophy at their new Nu Stadium. With Messi reaching 100 goals for the club on the same night, the latest triumph produced another landmark chapter in the Argentine’s exceptional career.
