“We Cheat When We Want”: Man City Fans Fire Back at Liverpool Taunts

Manchester City’s 3–0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday was accompanied by a fierce exchange of chants between rival supporters, as the fallout from City’s financial-rule verdict took centre stage.

Liverpool fans made their feelings clear, chanting, “You cheating bastards, we know what you are,” as they targeted the visitors over the club’s recent guilty verdict on breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

However, City supporters responded with a chant of their own, singing, “We cheat when we want, we cheat when we want, we are Man City, we cheat when we want,” turning the controversy into a heated battle between the two sets of fans.

The hostility followed an independent commission’s finding that Manchester City had breached financial regulations.

The club denies wrongdoing and has appealed the verdict. Liverpool supporters also displayed banners mocking City before the match.
