Bournemouth Stun Arsenal to Shake Up Title Race

Arsenal’s Premier League title charge suffered a major setback on Saturday after a shock 2–1 home defeat to Bournemouth, a result that has dramatically reopened the race for the title.

Mikel Arteta’s side, who came into the game as heavy favourites and league leaders, were stunned at the Emirates Stadium by a disciplined and clinical Bournemouth performance. 

The visitors took the lead through teenage forward Eli Junior Kroupi before Arsenal responded via a Viktor Gyökeres penalty. 

However, a well-worked second-half goal finished by Alex Scott sealed a famous win for Bournemouth.

The defeat was particularly damaging given the context: Arsenal had the opportunity to extend their lead at the top to 12 points, but instead saw their advantage come under serious threat.

Despite the loss, Arsenal remain top of the table, but the gap has effectively shrunk in real terms. 

They are nine points ahead of Manchester City, who still have two games in hand, a crucial detail that could swing the title race.
