The decisive moment came in the 14th minute when Jhon Arias found the back of the net with what proved to be the match-winning goal.
Despite creating several opportunities afterward, Colombia were unable to extend their lead but remained defensively solid to preserve the clean sheet.
Ghana pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Colombia’s disciplined defence held firm to seal progression to the knockout stage.
The victory sends Néstor Lorenzo’s side into the Round of 16, where they will face Switzerland.
