The Eurovision Song Contest faces fresh controversy ahead of its 2027 edition after Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS announced that it will boycott the competition for the second consecutive year.
AVROTROS said its decision was due to Israel’s participation and concerns that recent changes by the European Broadcasting Union have not done enough to protect the contest’s independence and neutrality. The broadcaster had also stayed away from the 2026 contest over same concerns surrounding Israel’s participation amid the conflict in Gaza.
