Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnap Victims, Foils Jailbreak in North-West, North-Central

The Nigerian Army has rescued 26 kidnapped individuals and recorded a series of operational successes across the country’s North-West and North-Central regions, military authorities said on Tuesday.

According to the army, troops also foiled a planned terrorist attack on a correctional facility and disrupted several other insurgent activities during coordinated security operations in the affected areas.

A credible source disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Nigerian military forces achieved multiple breakthroughs across several operational zones over the past 24 hours.

The source said that in Kaduna State, soldiers attached to Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully freed seven individuals who had been taken hostage during a security sweep in Kajuru Local Government Area on Wednesday.

He said the troops acting on actionable intelligence on kidnappers’ movement along the Anguwan Walaha axis, engaged the criminals, neutralised one terrorist and forced others to flee in disarray.

He said that three motorcycles earlier snatched from locals were recovered.

”In Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade rescued a 15-year-old girl abducted from Gidan Bajini village during a fighting patrol around Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area.

”The victim was rescued unhurt and is in military custody for further action.

”In Sokoto State, troops of CSI Battalion VII rescued 12 hunters and civilians during a fighting patrol at Kadida village in Tangaza Local Government Area.

”One injured civilian was evacuated to hospital, while troops continue to dominate the area to deny terrorists freedom of action,” the source disclosed.

The source added that the troops foiled an attempted terrorist attack on the Kangiwa Correctional Centre in Arewa Local Government Area.

He said the attackers, armed with rifles and riding motorcycles, fled on sighting troops after assaulting a correctional officer and setting ablaze a patrol vehicle and motorcycle within the facility.
