Nigerians Better Off Under Tinubu, Says Morka

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has declared that Nigerians are better off today than ever before, defending President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms amid persistent concerns over the cost of living.

Morka made the statement on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed the administration’s economic policies and preparations for the 2027 general elections.

“Qualitatively speaking, our country is better. Nigerians are better today than they have ever been,” Morka said.

He argued that the government’s reforms, including changes to the foreign exchange system, were necessary to address longstanding structural problems and lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth.

Morka maintained that the immediate difficulties associated with the reforms should be considered alongside their potential long-term benefits, insisting that the administration had given Nigeria an opportunity to recover economically.

However, the claim comes amid continuing public concerns about rising living costs and economic hardship. During the same programme, the ADC’s media representative, Kola Ologbondiyan, criticised the government over the pressure Nigerians face from the cost of living.

The contrasting positions highlight the ongoing debate over whether the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms are translating into tangible improvements in the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.
