Osun Decides: Adeleke Sounds Alarm in Ede Over Alleged Plot to Disrupt Election

Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to disrupt voting in his hometown, Ede, during Saturday’s governorship election.

Adeleke spoke shortly after casting his ballot at Unit 9, Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, where he voted at about 8:30 a.m.

The governor alleged that a police officer identified as “London” had been brought from Port Harcourt to Osun State to cause disruption in Ede.

“I have received some information from my people in Osun State that there is a police officer called London from Port Harcourt who was brought to the state to destroy my town, Ede, and disrupt the voting process.”

Adeleke called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to investigate the allegation and ensure that the electoral process was not disrupted.

“I am calling on the IGP and all security agencies to watch out for this police officer from Port Harcourt,” he added.

The governor also alleged that there were plans to bypass the established collation procedure by moving results directly from polling units to the collation centre instead of following the sequence through wards and local government areas.

He described the alleged move as unacceptable and urged voters in Ede to remain vigilant throughout voting and collation.

Meanwhile, Adeleke urged voters across the state to remain peaceful, protect their ballots and stay alert throughout the electoral process. He also expressed confidence that the election would be peaceful, credible and reflective of the will of the people.

The allegations have not been independently established, and no confirmation from the police was included in the reports reviewed.

The election is being conducted across Osun State on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with voting commencing at about 8:30 a.m.
