Lawmakers to Discuss National Security Reforms in High-Level Dialogue

The House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review is set to host a high-level Legislative Dialogue on National Security Architecture today, in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The event, themed “Nigeria’s Peace and Security: The Constitutional Imperatives,” will be held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre, located within the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja.

In a statement released yesterday, House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi announced that the upcoming event is expected to draw key figures from Nigeria’s security leadership.

National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Director-General of Department of State Service, DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed are expected to attend the meeting.

The dialogue forms a key part of the House of Representatives’ broader strategy to tackle Nigeria’s complex security challenges through constitutional reforms.

Central to this effort is House Bill 617, which proposes the creation of state police and a comprehensive restructuring of the nation’s law enforcement architecture.
