Mbappe’s Masterclass Sends Red-hot France Into World Cup Semis

France cruises into the World Cup semifinals after a flawless 2-0 win over Morocco. Mbappe dropped a goal and an assist to secure the win for France in Foxborough on Thursday.

In the first half of the game, Mbappe took a penalty, which he failed to convert as he forced a brilliant save from Morocco’s shot stopper Yassine Bono. He went ahead to give France the lead in the second half with a perfectly curled ball into the Moroccan net and also provided Ousmane Dembele the assist to score the second goal, securing the game for France.

The win extends France’s perfect record of being the only team in this edition of the FIFA World Cup that hasn’t needed extra time to secure a win. Morocco, who reached the last eight for a second straight World Cup, got dominated and only managed just 0.14 expected goals.

Mbappe’s goal and assist moved him level with Messi as the tournament’s top scorer and also the player with the highest goal contributions, with 11 G/A, giving him an edge over Messi in the Golden Boot race. France will now await the winner of Spain vs Belgium for a spot in the final.
