President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked Nigerians to give his administration more time to complete the reforms it has started, saying the country is on the right path. The president made the appeal in a message delivered on his behalf at a special Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Representing the President at the event, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said Tinubu’s administration was working to correct what the President described as cumulative mistakes from previous governments. Tinubu also urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country’s economic development and recovery.
According to the message, the government believes its ongoing reforms will bring greater economic development and improved conditions for Nigerians. Tinubu said peace and development were returning to the country and urged citizens to continue supporting the administration as it works through its reform programme.
The President also acknowledged the sacrifices Nigerians have made, stating citizens had endured significant difficulties in the process of trying to rebuild the country. He said there was “light at the end of the tunnel” and asked Nigerians to give the government more opportunity to complete what it has started.
Tinubu’s message put continued reforms, economic recovery and national development at the centre of his appeal to Nigerians.
