Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis rebels have launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia as fighting intensifies along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
The Houthis said they targeted a military airbase in Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities reported that 13 civilians were injured in the attacks.
The escalation follows a rapid Houthi advance in western Yemen. The group has captured the strategic port city of Mokha and key islands near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, raising concerns over one of the world’s major shipping routes.
Saudi Arabia, which supports Yemen’s internationally recognised government, is now facing growing pressure to respond as the conflict threatens its oil infrastructure and regional trade.
The latest escalation has also pushed oil prices higher, with Brent crude rising above $107 a barrel amid fears of further disruption to global energy supplies.
