Gov. Adeleke’s Ally Ajagungbade Shot Dead in Ile-Ife

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke’s associate, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, has reportedly been killed in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Oyeyemi, who was also described as a chieftain of the Accord Party in the state, was reportedly killed during a dispute over control of a motor park in the city.

Reports said the incident occurred at Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife, where Ajagungbade was allegedly got involved in a confrontation connected to the ongoing dispute over control of the park. Details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the identity of the person or persons responsible has not been independently confirmed.

The killing has reportedly heightened tension in parts of Ile-Ife and Osun State, with reports of sporadic gunshots also emerging in Osogbo. The incident comes amid a wider dispute involving rival groups over the management and control of motor parks in the state.

Adeleke Orders Arrests

Following the reported killing, Governor Adeleke ordered the immediate arrest of people allegedly involved and directed security agencies to investigate the incident. He also ordered the groups involved in the park dispute to vacate the motor parks, as his administration moves to introduce a new park management system.
