U.S. Operation Topples Venezuela’s Maduro – Trump Claims

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro was captured following a U.S.-led military operation carried out overnight on Saturday.

According to Trump, the action resulted in the removal of Maduro from power, marking one of Washington’s most decisive interventions in Latin America in decades.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

U.S. military strikes disabled power supply in parts of Caracas and led to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro at, or close to, one of his secured residences, Trump said in a phone interview with Fox News.

Trump claimed the operation unfolded so rapidly that Maduro was unable to lock down the reinforced doors of the location.

He added that Maduro and his wife were subsequently moved to the USS Iwo Jima, a U.S. Navy amphibious assault vessel stationed in the Caribbean, before being flown to the United States, where both are expected to face criminal charges.
