Mount Etna Eruption Sparks Travel Chaos, leaving Passengers Stranded at Catania Airport
Passengers and tourists travelling through Sicily have been left facing flight cancellations and delays after Mount Etna eruption again, disrupting operations at Catania Airport.

Catania is known for it’s vulnerability to disruptions from Etna because volcanic ash can serve as a serious hazard to aircraft engines and flight paths. Some passengers have reported being stranded at airports after their flights were cancelled, with others forced to consider travelling through alternative airports and onward connections.
The disruption comes during a busy summer travel period, increasing the pressure on passengers and airlines accommodate affected travellers.
