The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reportedly resolved over 5,000 complaints within the last five days as its new Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, begins his tenure with a focus on improving services to candidates.
The reported intervention comes as the new registrar took over from Professor Ishaq Oloyede. President Bola Tinubu had appointed Aina, a professor of computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, as Oloyede’s successor in May. Professor Aina’s appointment had since generated expectations around technology, examination administration and candidate support. Issues previously identified as challenges for the Board include technical glitches, examination-related fraud and other systemic problems affecting candidates.
The reported clearance of over 5,000 of complaints could therefore signal an early attempt by the new administration to improve how candidates interact with JAMB, particularly when they encounter problems with examinations, results or admission processes.
With Aina now officially at the helm, attention will likely remain on whether the emphasis on complaint resolution translates into broader improvements across the Board’s services.
