Real Madrid Snatch Dramatic Late Win at Elche

Real Madrid left it late to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory over Elche on Tuesday, with substitute Carlos Espí scoring the winner in stoppage time.

Madrid looked firmly in control after taking a 2-0 lead. Arda Güler’s free-kick led to an own goal from Elche goalkeeper Matías Dituro in the 25th minute before Kylian Mbappé doubled the advantage eight minutes later.

However, Elche fought back after the break. Abiel Osorio pulled one back in the 71st minute before Fernando Niño levelled the score in the 83rd minute, putting Madrid in danger of dropping two points after surrendering a two-goal lead.

Madrid eventually found the decisive moment in added time. Jude Bellingham created the opening before Mbappé supplied the final pass for Espí, who calmly finished to give Real Madrid all three points.

The victory was Madrid’s fifth win of the LaLiga campaign, taking them to 15 points, level with Barcelona at the top of the table, although Barcelona had a game in hand at the time.
