Shooting Disrupts White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington

A shooting incident caused panic and forced the evacuation of top U.S. officials during the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night, according to multiple credible reports.

The incident occurred on April 25 at the Washington Hilton hotel, where gunshots were heard near a security screening area as hundreds of journalists, politicians, and dignitaries gathered for the high-profile event.

U.S. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several cabinet members were quickly escorted to safety by the Secret Service.

Authorities later confirmed that all protected individuals were unharmed.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos inside the ballroom, with guests diving under tables after hearing loud bangs. Armed security personnel rushed into position as the situation unfolded.

Law enforcement officials said a suspect was apprehended at the scene. Early reports indicate the attacker fired multiple shots but did not gain access to the main ballroom.

One law enforcement officer was struck but protected by a bullet-resistant vest and is expected to recover.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing. The White House Correspondents’ Association later confirmed that the event would be rescheduled following the security breach.
