State Funeral for Khamenei to Begin July 4 in Tehran

Iran has announced that funeral ceremonies for its late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will commence in the capital, Tehran, on July 4, before concluding with his burial in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad on July 9, according to state media reports.

The six-day state funeral, coming more than 100 days after his death, will include additional religious observances in the city of Qom on July 7, reflecting his central role in Iran’s political and religious establishment. 

Khamenei, who led the Islamic Republic for over three decades, was killed on February 28 during the opening phase of coordinated U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, marking a major escalation in regional tensions.
