Trump Says Patience With Iran Running Out

U.S. President Donald Trump says he is “not going to be much more patient” with Iran as tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz continue to rise.

Speaking after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Trump said both leaders agreed that “Iran cannot have nuclear weapons” and stressed the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for global trade. However, he insisted he did not ask China for any special favors regarding Iran.

“I’m not going to be much more patient. They should make a deal,” Trump said during an interview with Fox News. He also told reporters: “I don’t think we need any help with Iran.”

According to Reuters, Xi expressed support for stability in the region and said China would like to see a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

The remarks come amid growing global concerns over disruptions to oil supplies and renewed diplomatic pressure on Tehran over its nuclear activities.
