China condemns Israeli airstrikes in Doha
China has denounced Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas leadership in Doha, labeling them a violation of international norms.
Beijing has called for immediate ceasefire talks to halt the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said in Beijing on Wednesday that China was “deeply concerned” about escalating tensions and criticised “certain sides” for disrupting talks aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza.
He urged all parties, “especially Israel,” to make greater efforts to resume dialogue.
Israel conducted the airstrikes on Tuesday, targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar’s capital, as part of its ongoing campaign against the group’s leadership, which began with the Gaza conflict in October 2023.
The attacks coincide with Israel’s continued push for Qatar to dismantle Hamas’ political office, a demand Doha has rejected, stressing its commitment to serving as a neutral mediator.
