Bellingham Brace Sends England Past Mexico Into World Cup Quarters

England secured the ticket to the World Cup quarterfinal in a thrilling 3-2 game against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium, as Bellingham struck twice in two minutes. The win books a quarterfinal date against Norway.

Bellingham dropped a brace in the 36th and 38th minutes, which got a response from Mexico’s Julian Quinones, who scored a well-taken volley just before the end of the first half.

A few minutes into the second half, a red card to Jarell Quansah reduced the Three Lions to 10 men. Jarell was shown a red card after a VAR review, but despite the setback, Harry Kane was able to convert a much-needed penalty to restore a two-goal lead.

England’s defense held firm through Mexico’s late pressure after Jimenez converted a penalty in the 69th minute of the game, sealing their place in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals while ending Mexico’s hope of a first quarterfinal since 1986.

England will now face red-hot Haaland and Norway, who stunned 5-time champion Brazil to reach the last 8.
