Jared Leto has denied the sexual misconduct allegations in a new BBC documentary, calling the claims “absolutely and categorically false.” His statement, sent directly to The Associated Press and other outlets, is his first public response since the documentary aired.
“Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” features ten women describing their encounter with the actor between 2002 and 2016, with four accusing him of conduct that could amount to criminal sexual offences. Several of the women states that they were teenagers, between 16 and 19 years old, at the time of the alleged incidents.
The documentary also includes accounts from two former members of Thirty Seconds to Mars’ touring team, who said staff had concerns about Leto inviting teenage girls backstage or to places where the band recorded. The BBC said it corroborated aspects of several accounts through contemporaneous messages, photographs, and interviews with people the 10 women confided in at the time.
According to the broadcaster, Jared Leto did not respond to its own attempts to seek comment before the documentary got released, only issuing his denial afterward through various statements to press outlets. This isn’t the first time he’s faced such claims, having also denied allegations from nine women in a 2025 Air Mail report, which his representative also called demonstrably false at the time. No criminal charges have been reported in connection with the allegations.
