9 people have been confirmed dead after a Learjet 60 private jet crashed in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026. The aircraft went down close to West Palm Beach, and erupted into flames after hitting the ground.

Before the crash, the flight crew reportedly informed the air traffic control about icing conditions, moderate turbulence and precipitation while requesting a smoother flight path. The pilot subsequently declared an emergency as the aircraft began losing altitude rapidly. Recordings of the final communication captured the crew reporting an accelerating descent before contact was lost. The exact cause of the crash has not been established.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the incident as a major tragedy, while local authorities evacuated approximately 600 residents from the surrounding area as a safety precaution. Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has also expressed condolences and pledged to cooperate with investigators.
