NAF Recovers Black Box From Ondo Military Plane Crash
The Nigerian Air Force has recovered the Cockpit Voice Recorder from the ATR-42 military aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on October 5, in an incident that claimed the lives of all 25 people on board.
According to the Nigerian Air Force, the recorder was recovered after weeks of difficult search operations in the swampy crash location.
Technical teams from the Air Force and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau confirmed that the device was intact.
Authorities also recovered part of the aircraft’s Flight Data Recorder, alongside additional wreckage, engine components and human remains.
However, efforts are still ongoing to recover the remaining portion of the flight recorder.
The Cockpit Voice Recorder is expected to provide important information about conversations and sounds inside the aircraft before the crash.
Investigators will examine the available evidence to establish what happened and determine possible contributing factors.
The military has also appealed for patience as recovery and investigation efforts continue.
The findings could provide important answers to the families of the victims and help strengthen aviation safety.
