Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified again after US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces carried out another round of military strikes against Iranian targets on Friday.
Trump described the operation as limited, saying US forces destroyed a newly established Iranian air-defence system.
Iranian state media also reported two explosions around the Suza area of Qeshm Island, close to the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
American strikes in the region and at a time when diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway to bring the conflict to an end.
The Strait of Hormuz is particularly important because of its role in global oil transportation.
The conflict has also created economic concerns beyond the Middle East, with disruptions to energy supplies contributing to higher fuel costs and uncertainty in international markets.
The issue has become politically sensitive in the United States, where dissatisfaction over the war and rising living costs has affected the Trump administration.
Despite the fresh military action, Trump says discussions with Iran are continuing. Qatar has also intensified diplomatic engagements with Washington in an attempt to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.
