The Chief of Staff to the Nigerian President, Femi Gbajabiamila, reported to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Monday, July 20th as part of the ongoing investigation into the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) agency. His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed the Chief of Staff arrived at the commission’s Abuja office and fully cooperated with questioning.
The interrogation stems from the allegations by PFIPC’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who claims Gbajabiamila demanded 48% of a ₦27.3 billion for the fake agency. Adeyemi went further by alleging that ₦400 million was paid through an intermediary, with an additional ₦200 million demanded for presidential approvals.
Rep. Gbajabiamila’s legal team, led by Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), has since dismissed the claims as false and defamatory. Adeyemi was recently re-arrested in Osun State after a Federal High Court issued a bench warrant over his failure to appear for arraignment.
The probe and interrogation follows President Tinubu’s directive ordering the ICPC to investigate the scandal. The House of Representatives has also set up a 12-member ad hoc committee to examine how the council secured a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget.
