Pezeshkian Urges Diplomacy with U.S., Stresses Need for Vigilance

Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday called for renewed diplomatic efforts to ease tensions with the United States, while emphasizing the need for continued caution in dealing with Washington.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Pezeshkian said “every rational and diplomatic path” should be explored to reduce tensions, noting that conflict would benefit neither side. However, he stressed that vigilance and distrust toward the U.S. remain an “undeniable necessity.”
His remarks come amid heightened geopolitical strain and uncertainty over potential follow-up talks between Iran and the United States, with Iranian officials expressing concerns over what they describe as inconsistent signals from Washington.
Recent developments in the Gulf, including U.S. naval actions and accusations of ceasefire violations, have further complicated diplomatic progress. Still, Pezeshkian’s position suggests Tehran is open to engagement albeit with a guarded approach as international pressure mounts for de-escalation.
