Russia Keeps Same Peace Demands for Ukraine

The Kremlin has confirmed that Russia’s conditions for ending the war in Ukraine remain unchanged, saying Moscow is still holding onto the demands outlined by President Vladimir Putin in 2024.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia’s position has not shifted and that it remains based on Putin’s earlier proposal, which calls for Ukrainian forces to withdraw from four regions claimed by Moscow — Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia — and for Ukraine to officially abandon its ambition of joining NATO.
The statement comes after Putin said Russia would continue pursuing its military objectives, including efforts to gain full control of the four regions, while rejecting what he described as a Ukrainian proposal aimed at reducing hostilities.
Ukraine has rejected Russia’s territorial claims, describing Moscow’s actions as an illegal attempt to seize Ukrainian land, while Kyiv has continued to call for a peace agreement based on its own conditions, including respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Kremlin added that its stance is already known by Ukrainian authorities and international negotiators, including those from the United States.
