Trump Says Xi Assured Him China Isn’t Arming Iran After Letter Exchange

U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that he personally wrote to Chinese President Xi Jinping urging him not to supply weapons to Iran, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking in an interview with Fox Business Network aired on Wednesday, Trump said the move came after widespread reports suggesting China could be providing military support to Tehran.
“I wrote him a letter asking him not to do that,” Trump said, referring to alleged Chinese weapons supplies to Iran.
According to Trump, Xi responded directly, denying the claims and assuring that China was not arming Iran.
“He wrote me a letter saying that… he’s not doing that,” Trump added.
The exchange comes at a critical time, as Washington intensifies pressure on Iran through sanctions and a naval blockade, while also warning countries against supporting Tehran militarily.
Trump has previously threatened to impose steep tariffs up to 50% on nations found supplying weapons to Iran.
Reports indicate that Trump’s outreach followed intelligence concerns and media reports alleging that China could be preparing to send air-defense systems to Iran, claims Beijing has consistently denied.
