Why Yung Filly Was Found Not Guilty of Rape—But Not Completely Cleared
Yung Filly has been found not guilty of rape following an 11-day trial in Perth, Australia, but the case is far from fully resolved. The British YouTuber and rapper whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, wept as the jury delivered its verdicts on charges stemming from a 2024 hotel incident.
The jury cleared him on three different counts of sexual penetration without consent, but found him guilty on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. Crucially, jurors couldn’t reach a decision on three further rape charges, resulting in a hung jury on those specific counts.
Those undecided charges remain unresolved, meaning prosecutors must now decide whether to pursue a retrial on them, with the matter set to be addressed in court on August 21. The woman involved, now 20, cannot be named under Australian reporting restrictions.
Barrientos has been out on bail throughout the case, still faces sentencing on the assault convictions. The 30-year-old, known for his work with YouTube collective Beta Squad and past BBC Three appearances, had pleaded not guilty to all six rape charges, three assault charges, and one choking charge originally brought against him.
