Bruno Fernandes Fires Back at Roy Keane After Premier League Record Row

A fresh war of words has erupted at Manchester United after captain Bruno Fernandes publicly accused club legend Roy Keane of “lying” over comments surrounding his pursuit of the Premier League assists record.

The tension began after Fernandes broke the Premier League’s single-season assists record with his 21st assist during United’s 3-0 victory over Brighton.

The Portuguese midfielder surpassed the previous record of 20 assists jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

However, Keane criticised the manner in which the milestone was pursued, describing the situation as a “circus act” and suggesting Fernandes was more focused on personal achievement than the team’s overall performance.

Fernandes strongly rejected those claims, insisting his comments after the Nottingham Forest match had been twisted.

The United captain said:

“People can have opinions, but they cannot say I don’t put the team first.”

He also accused Keane of misrepresenting what he actually said in interviews, adding that every interview is recorded and easily verifiable.

According to reports, Fernandes was particularly angered by suggestions that he intentionally passed instead of shooting purely to chase the record.

Keane has since appeared to respond with a cryptic social media post featuring the caption: “Attention makes donkey think he’s lion.”
