Iran Accuses U.S. of Ceasefire Breach as Fresh Strikes Hit Southern Targets

Iran has accused the United States of violating a fragile ceasefire after U.S. forces carried out what Washington described as “defensive” strikes on military targets in southern Iran, further straining ongoing peace negotiations.
According to reports from Reuters and other international outlets, the U.S. military confirmed that the strikes targeted missile launch sites and vessels allegedly involved in laying naval mines near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Central Command said the operation was aimed at protecting American forces and maintaining maritime security in the region.
Tehran, however, condemned the action as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement that had brought several weeks of relative calm to the conflict.
Iranian officials warned of possible retaliation, arguing that the strikes undermine diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
