2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: What Makes It Different?

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 gets a major redesign with new V8 engines, updated technology, fresh styling and new trims. Here’s what to know.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is arriving as a next-generation pickup with new V8 engines, a redesigned exterior, fully digital interior and more off-road capability. Chevrolet is keeping the 3.0L Duramax diesel and upgraded 2.7L TurboMax as part of the four-engine lineup.

What Makes the 2027 Silverado 1500 Different?

The biggest change here is under the hood. The Silverado gets a new 5.7L and 6.6L naturally aspirated V8 engines from GM’s sixth-generation Small Block family. The larger 6.6L produces 481 horsepower, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its segment.

The truck is also getting an all-new exterior and digital cabin, with a strong front-end design and updated technology. Chevrolet is expanding Super Cruise availability, while standard safety features include intersection automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, reverse automatic braking and blind-zone steering assist.

Chevrolet has also decided to stick with the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel alongside the upgraded 2.7L TurboMax, giving buyers gasoline V8, turbo-four and diesel choices rather than moving entirely toward electrification. With Chevrolet’s combination of new engines, redesigned technology and broader off-road options, the 2027 Silverado 1500 represents a significant change from the outgoing generation.
