Delta: Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapper, Recover N5m Ransom

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a suspected high-profile kidnapper, Sanusi Abdullahi, in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Bright Edafe, announced on Tuesday in Asaba that the arrest marks a significant victory in the command’s fight against kidnapping in the region.
On July 12, operatives from the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, tracked Abdullahi and his gang to their forest hideout in Ogwashi-Uku.
Edafe revealed that Abdullahi was caught with N5 million, part of a ransom collected from a victim.
Investigations indicate the gang is behind multiple kidnappings in areas including Ogwashi-Uku, Issele-Uku, Ibusa, Issele-Azagba, and Ubulu-Okiti, including the abduction of a young woman in Ogwashi-Uku on July 9, 2025.
Following Abdullahi’s arrest, he guided police to additional hideouts in the Second Deputy area and Oko, Asaba, where four more gang members were apprehended.
