Pakistan Seeks Breakthrough as US-Iran Peace Talks Hang in Balance

Pakistan intensified diplomatic efforts on Thursday in a bid to revive fragile peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, as tensions over Tehran’s nuclear programme continued to threaten stability in the Middle East.
The renewed mediation push comes amid fresh warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said military action remained possible if Iran failed to provide what he described as the “right answers” during ongoing negotiations.
According to Reuters, Pakistani officials have stepped up back-channel diplomacy between Washington and Tehran following weeks of stalled discussions tied to Iran’s uranium enrichment programme and the future of sanctions relief.
Pakistan’s military leadership and senior diplomats are reportedly engaging both sides in hopes of preventing another military escalation in the Gulf region.
Iran, however, appeared to harden its position this week after reports emerged that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei directed that the country’s enriched uranium stockpile must remain inside Iran, rejecting a key U.S. demand linked to the nuclear talks.
The development raised fresh doubts about the chances of a breakthrough agreement.
