Enyimba FC Crisis Deepens as Sporting Director Reportedly Gets Officials Arrested
Enyimba FC’s crisis has deepened after police disrupted training and took some club officials away following their third straight NPFL defeat.
Enyimba’s crisis has taken another dramatic turn after Sporting Director Daniel Eke reportedly arrived at the club’s training ground with Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers, disrupting the group’s preparations for Wednesday’s NPFL clash with Sporting Lagos. Some club officials were reportedly taken away by police men, while chairman Nwankwo Kanu was filmed leading the players to the RRS office.
According to PUNCH, Monday’s group training session was cut short after Eke allegedly arrived with officers from the Abia State Police Command’s RRS. An Enyimba Stadium official told the publication that police arrested some officials, although the reason for the arrests not specified immediately.
There were also reports that the incident followed an alleged confrontation involving Eke after Enyimba’s 1-0 home defeat to Inter Lagos. However, those claims have not been independently established, and neither Enyimba nor the police force had issued a detailed official explanation of the incident in the latest reports.
The situation has also renewed attention on the reported power struggle within the club involving its sporting administration. With Wednesday’s fixture approaching, Enyimba now face the challenge of resolving the turmoil while trying to end their losing run and get their season back on track.
